We went to Seneca Falls, too. Everyone who is able to travel there would find it inspiring. I won’t select “a favorite” among the quotations because it might take all night to decide. I recommend reading Carrie Chapman Katt and Nettie R. Shuler’s book WOMAN SUFFRAGE AND POLITICS in order to understand why it took such a long time to win the right to vote. Over and over and over, every imaginable dirty trick in political maneuver and manipulation, and every prejudiced and illogical element in the courts and legal system, came to be deployed in order to impede the right of female United States citizens to vote . . . one half of the population! Next month is the 200th anniversary of Susan B. Anthony’s birth. In this year 2020, with our democracy in jeopardy and our planet in peril, let’s be moved to action. That’s the most appropriate honor I can think of as a tribute to the courageous example of Susan B. Anthony’s dedicted lifelong labor for equal rights and civic responsibility for oppressed human beings
