“Why fit in when you were born to stand out”
The above is one of many Dr. Seuss quotes that preaches how important it is for you to celebrate your uniqueness instead of trying so hard to be part of the crowd.
Every human is born with an exceptional gift that only they behold.
This can only be unlocked when you truly accept yourself, love yourself, and embrace your individuality.
That’s where self-esteem comes from.
It’s how you see yourself.
Only if you recognize your true spirit and potential can others learn to see the fire inside of you.
So how can you be part of that overwhelming emotion of feeling good about yourself?
Here are some tips:
1. It All Starts With Acceptance: What’s Your Current Self Esteem Level?
Ever heard of the term cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)? It is the concept where most of
what you believe, is a result of faulty assumptions that we’ve developed in our own head.
Maybe someone in your past or current social circle has instilled reasons for you to doubt yourself.
But this is only because you’ve accepted the incorrect beliefs.
Make a list of the things you’re good at.
If you feel like there isn’t much, think back on the time people have thanked you or appreciated something you’ve done for them.
Do they value you? Why?
2. Don’t Focus On Being “Perfect”: No-one Is
Some individuals spend their lifetime in pursuit of perfection.
That’s something you can’t quite achieve.
You can never get 100% acceptance of your family and friends, because quite frankly, you can’t please them all! Set realistic expectations and learn to be content with that.
True happiness and self esteem lies in being content with who you are.
3. Explore Your Inner Self: Challenge Yourself!
You will only understand and value yourself once you push yourself into achieving something bigger.
Step out of your comfort zone, and just when you feel like you can’t do it, push harder.
That’s when you will step up to the plate and recognize your true potential.
You will respect the challenges and hurdles you’ve overcome.
4. You Are Your Own Competition
Don’t compare your successes and failures to that of others.
They’re different than you are!
Remember, your doubts are your greatest enemy.
If you put that aside, you will reach new heights.
Develop new boundaries and let yourself go way ahead than others!
