Quite #16 is my favorite. It inspired so many date hunters and even the job hunters. Back in the late 2000 when I just finished college, I decided to get myself employed sooner but I can’t seem to get the job that I want. But by time I was about to give up looking for work I stayed at home for a while and I happen to listen to the radio and Aaliyah’s music was played on with the lyrics “and if at first you don’t succeed / you can dust it off and try again / you dust yourself off and try again / try again …” and I was mesmerized by that idea of not giving up. She whispered like an angel to me saying those words. Then I wanted to know the title of that latest song of her by that time and it was a soundtrack for her movie “Romeo Must Die”. I was very excited to see that movie which she starred knowing it was her debut acting to date. I loved Aaliyah more after that. Everytime I hear her mellow ballad version of “At Your Best (You Are Love)” I can’t help missing her and left me teary eyed. She was a sensation back then and her legacy will live for generations to come.
